This week, WasteSURE is celebrating its first birthday.
This time last year, WasteSURE was at the very beginning of its journey. The office was just about to be fitted out properly, the website was almost ready and Mark was beginning to build his team. While the Beast from the East raged outside, WasteSURE was finally starting to take shape.
WasteSURE was created to provide outstanding environmentally-friendly, compliant and economical waste management solutions. Over this year, we have shown on many occasions that these three goals are not mutually exclusive. In fact, we have shown that the very best solutions are found where all three are balanced equally.
Mark Dunne, co-founder of WasteSURE said,

We have all worked so hard to get to where we are and now we have our eyes set on a brilliant future. 2019 is going to be another exciting year for WasteSURE as we have so much more we want to do and achieve. The whole team has been absolutely fantastic this year and I know that the momentum we have built is just going to keep on growing.”
In our first year, we have worked hard to start as we go on. This means that WasteSURE has been transparent from the start and ensured that everything we do is fully compliant with the waste duty of care. But starting as we mean to go on also means that we have invested in helping to improve the local community.
Our Corporate Responsibility
As a core part of our corporate responsibility, we have thrown ourselves into helping local community groups clean up public areas this year. We provided skips and compliant disposal to the Ramsbottom community cleanup and have since designed our Community Cleanup Package which other groups around Greater Manchester are welcome to access for free. This package includes everything from gloves to skip hire – all you need to do is email mark@wastesure.com to organise your event.
Engaging with the local community is an important part of being a socially conscious business which is why we haven’t stopped at cleanup events. We have also provided funding for local football teams through our Football Grant Scheme and we will be opening for applications again soon.

The waste management industry is set to change again in 2019 with the landfill tax rising once again and the government’s proposal for Extended Producer Responsibility. Our Brand New System
We are delighted to announce that our Waste Management System will soon be available online. The system is designed to make booking skips, tracking your waste and keeping your documents in one place even easier, giving you greater control over the process. We believe that waste management should be a transparent industry and this is our way of giving you the access you need.
All our clients will be given access to the system as soon as it is available and new clients will be able to sign up too. By creating a single account with us, you will gain instant access to our network of suppliers and be able to book and exchange skips even faster.
Sharing Our Knowledge
Over the course of 2018, we have been writing blogs explaining various aspects of the waste management industry and sharing our knowledge via our waste advice line and Media Hub. In 2019, we are planning to step up a gear by providing more guides and blogs so that you are never having to guess at what the right approach is. We strongly believe in industry transparency and encourage all our clients and customers to ask lots of questions about our processes!
It is now impossible for the waste industry to ignore the consequences of climate and environmental change and we hope to stay at the front of the environmental movement gradually taking hold of this sector. Sharing our knowledge is just as important as providing the right services to our clients and we hope that others will follow our example. The more we all share, the more likely we are to succeed.
We’ve had a brilliant first year at WasteSURE and with everything so much coming up already this year, we can’t wait to see where we will be by our second birthday!
